Junior Kindergarten Welcome Letter

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Junior-K class at ACS.  This class is designed for children who are five by July 1st. Our morning program includes monthly themes and weekly letters.  This program gives your child a true feeling of Kindergarten by incorporating the following into our curriculum:

• Circle time
• Reading comprehension
• Writing & cutting
• Phonics
• Letter recognition        
• Public speaking
• Directive draw
• Patterns and sequences
• Simple graphing
• Math & science concepts
• Music & movement
• Large & fine motor skills
• Arts & crafts
• Fun games

We use a variety of different teaching techniques and tools to hopefully find what style works best for each child’s individual needs for Kindergarten preparedness.   We closely monitor and assess each child throughout the year.  This includes:

• Portfolios
• Parent conference
• Bi-weekly take- home packet
• Daily one-on-one time with teacher
• School district assessment
• Extra time with a Reading/Writing Specialist 
• Parent Directory

Our goal is to not only have your child prepared for Kindergarten, but with an extra sense confidence.  Although it is up to the child as to how much information is consumed, our hope is to expose him/her to a fun and stimulating learning environment.  I hope that together we can make this a positive learning experience for your child.
